Is JA offered at your child's school?
Research says that the greatest predictor of student achievement is not economic or social status, but rather the extent to which parents become involved in their children's education.
Kids believe they can be whatever they want when they grow up. And they're right. But getting there isn't always easy.
No matter what your profession, your life experience and determination to succeed means you can serve as a role model - not just to your child - but to their peers too.
Here is how you can get involved:
Volunteer
As a JA classroom consultant, you can give your child and their classmates the opportunity to discover how their talent and abilities can create a better life for themselves.
Get JA in your community by contacting the JA office, you can find out what classrooms in your town offer JA programs. After all, preparing children for the economic reality of tomorrow is a responsibility everyone in the community shares.
What is JA?
We are the passionate people behind a movement that seeks to prepare and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy. During 2009/2010 school year Junior Achievement of Greater Reading & Lehigh Valley reached 6,500 students. This school year our goal is to reach over 7,500 students in the region.
Focusing on three content areas of: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness, JA's age-appropriate curricula begins at the elementary school level, teaching children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers. JA programs continue through the middle and high school grades, preparing students for future economic and workforce issues they'll face.
We do all this with the help of our volunteers. Volunteers who so care about our youth they take time out of their day to make a difference.
Junior Achievement is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization sponsored by corporate and individual contributors.
